About the Fair Company
The Fair Companies consist of Fair Oil Company, Fair Propane Gas Systems, Inc., Fair Properties LP, and Churchill Properties LLC. Fair Oil Company is a 3rd generation company that was started in 1934 by John S Fair. John S. Fair, Jr. came into the business in 1975 after serving six years in the Armed Forces (Navy). In 2000, John S. Fair III (Johnny) joined his father in the family business.
Over the years, John and Johnny have expanded the business and positioned The Fair Companies as a market leader in the gasoline and propane industries serving Mississippi and Alabama.
Fair Properties and Churchill Properties are companies whose assets consist of the real estate owned by the Fair Family. The majority of these properties are locations occupied by Fair Propane, Fair Oil, or Fair Oil’s convenient stores. Fair Properties also includes commercial buildings, office rental space, investment property, recreation property, and timber land.
JOHNNY FAIR
Johnny was born in Louisville, MS in 1976. He went to Winston Academy and graduated as WA’s Valedictorian. He then went on to Mississippi State University and was a member of the MSU Baseball Team. Johnny finished in 1999 graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Microbiology. While at MSU, he served as Vice President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Johnny was also named to Who’s Who among American College Students. Other college organizations included Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Sigma, and Reformed University Fellowship.
Johnny is a member at First Presbyterian Church in Starkville, MS. His community activities include being a board member on the Main Street Association of Louisville and chairman of the Promotions Board. He is also a member of the Louisville Rotary Club and sits on the Renasant Bank board of Starkville. Johnny also serves on the board of directors of Starkville Academy and Starkville Country Club serving as President.
Johnny served as President of the Mississippi Propane Gas Association in 2008. He also served as President of the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association in 2014. He served on the Board of Pure Marketers Cooperative from 2008-2014. The Mississippi Business Journal named him Top 40 Under 40 business leaders in MS in 2008. Johnny is married to the former Maggie Martin of Brandon, MS and they have three daughters. His hobbies include golf, tennis, hunting, and saltwater fishing.
JOHN FAIR
John is a native of Louisville, MS, graduating from Louisville High School in 1965. He served in the US Navy for six years from 1966-1972. Upon completion of his military service, he attended Mississippi State University and received a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1975. He married Bonnie Bennett of Oxford, MS and they have four children, Laura, Johnny, Emily, and Caroline. John is a devout Christian and has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Louisville since 1960. He is an ordained Deacon and Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church in America.
John is an active civic leader in his community serving on the Board of Directors of the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce from 1977-1983 where in 1983 he was elected President. He has also served on the school board of Winston Academy, the Community Bank Board of Directors of Renasant Bank, and the Board of Directors of Louisville Country Club. In 2005 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the MS Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association and served as President in 2008.
He is also a 40 year member of the Rotary Club of Louisville, MS serving as President in 1982-1983 and 2011-2012. In 2004-2005 he was elected as an officer of Rotary International and served as District Governor of Rotary District 6820 during Rotary’s Centennial Year of service. He is the fourth member of his family to serve as a District Governor of Rotary International following his grandfather, uncle, and second cousin.
He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu national honor societies. He was selected as Louisville/Winston County Man of the Year in 1984 and as the Rotary Club of Louisville’s Rotarian of the Year in 1984 and 2022. He and his wife Bonnie are Major Donors to the Rotary International Foundation and Rotary Benefactors.
John continues to be active in the family business started in 1934 by his father, John S. Fair. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, and golf.
